TAKPAVE TACTILE SURFACES
A range of surface mounted rubber tiles providing Tactile Surfaces for the guidance of the visually impaired.SPECIFICATIONTakpave® conforms to Department for Transport “Guidance on the use of Tactile Paving Surfaces” (DETR 1998). For both highways and the built environment, Takpave® helps service providers achieve compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).
Takpave® is made from a uniquely formulated, mineral filled elastomer, to give high durability, abrasion and skid resistance. It is supplied in 400mm square tiles and can be adhered to most firm surfaces. Standard colours are red (controlled crossings), buff, grey, blue and black. Other colours are available, subject to quantity. Adhesives can be supplied or recommended and Takpave® should be solvent wiped before adhesion. THE PRODUCTPedestrian - A blister pattern indicates pedestrian crossing points. STEPSThe corduroy surface should extend the full width of the stairs (top and bottom) and at least 400mm beyond, starting 400mm back from the step and laid to a depth of 800mm. Takpave® was developed in collaboration with Transport Research Laboratory and Cranfield Institute of Technology.
