New Speed ramp both calms and drains (Aug 07)
Rediweld’s latest speed ramp, MiniSitecop, launched at this years’ Traffex show, is designed to reduce vehicle speeds to only 5-10 mph but with a profile that minimises driver discomfort. At an installation in Alton, Hampshire, MiniSitecop is used to slow vehicles as they approach some new business units. Importantly though, they are positioned below a drainage channel to act as a barrier and so prevent flash flooding, which has been a problem this summer. MiniSitecop which is only 50mm high, joins Rediweld’s existing range of speed ramps, between the original 70mm high Sitecop (0-5 mph) and the less severe SitecopPlus (10-20 mph) which is uniquely suited to HGV’s. They are all made from durable recycled rubber with distinctive high visibility markings. Rediweld also supplies Traficop speed cushions and raised tables, surface kerbing, vehicle stoppers, Takpave tactile surfaces; BusPad raised platforms and Jislon crash friendly posts. |

Jislon Pole Cones specified for InterRoute Works Access Area (Oct 06)Jislon Pole Cones, supplied in the UK by Rediweld as part of their Traffic Management product range, are performance tested by being run over 1000 times by a 2 ton vehicle traveling at 70 km/h, after which they return to their normal upright position.
In this photograph 16 Jislon pole cones 1000mm high with TSRGD markings have been installed for InterRoute on the A20 and have been used to restrict vehicles to a ’Works Access Only’ lay by. Other versions of the Jislon Pole Cones are available: The ’City’ cone is produced in graphite grey and integrated into town centre traffic management schemes whilst giving the appearance of elegant street furniture. Other versions are more specifically for car park management or verge marking. The Rediweld range of Traffic Management and Site Safety products include Sitecop sleeping policemen, several styles of speed cushions, parking posts, flexible kerbing and tactile surface tiles for the guidance of the visually impaired. |

Rediweld Introduce the ‘BusPad’BusPad Shortlisted for Highways Award "Excellence in Recycling" (Sept 06)Access to public transport for disabled users is high on the agendas of most Local Authorities and Transport Companies.
A secondary advantage of the ‘BusPad’ is its ability to be relocated which is a decided benefit should the position of the bus stop need to be moved, as is so often the case when temporary road works are involved. With a trial site in Manchester already generating positive feedback from disabled users, Rediweld is establishing other sites across the UK for this innovative product. The ‘BusPad’ is typically a third of the cost of a conventional kerb treatment, according to a Rediweld spokesperson, and can be installed in a fraction of the time. The BusPad is an addition to Rediweld’s range of Traffic Management and Site Safety which also includes the TakPave range of tactile surface tiles for the guidance of the visually impaired. SitecopPlus slows Da Vinci tourists (July 06)
Being featured in ‘The Da Vinci Code’ maybe good for tourism in Scotland but brings its own traffic management problems to the village of Roslin, where ‘Rosslyn Chapel’ is located. The volume of visitors to the chapel has required Midlothian Council to resurface the access road and, as part of the traffic management program, they have installed 5 runs of Sitecop Plus sleeping policemen, manufactured by Rediweld in Alton, to keep vehicle speeds to 20 mph.
SitecopPlus is part of a comprehensive range of Traffic Management and Site Safety products from Rediweld. They are made from highest quality recycled rubber and thereby comply with the majority of environmental responsibility issues that Local Authorities are striving to achieve. They are mechanically fixed to the road surface so can be relocated in the event of a change in Traffic Management requirements, and they are distinctive with their vivid yellow markings which can sometimes have as much slowing down effect as the ramp itself. In all a total of 25 metres of Rediweld SitecopPlus has been installed for Midlothian Council which has been greatly welcomed by the people of Roslin. Picture Caption:. Rediweld Introduce 'Verge Marker' version of the Jislon Deformable Pole Cone (May 06)
The Jislon range of deformable pole cones is proving to be very successful and highly desirable for both city centre schemes and highway lane separation. It has now been extended to include a design for Verge Marker applications.
As with all cones in the Jison range, the Verge Marker is developed to be a ’maintenance free’ unit. They can be supplied with either amber reflectors or red/white front/rear reflector top sections, depending on the application. Pictured here is a Jislon Verge Marker installation for Durham County Council at Aycliffe, on the A167. Being produced in polyurethane the verge markers are highly resistant to airborne pollution particularly in snowy conditions where roads can be regularly salted/gritted. The fixing is by a metal anchor set in concrete. Jislon is distributed in the UK by Rediweld, a market leader in Site Safety and Traffic Management products including:- Sleeping Policemen, Speed Cushions, Safety Bollards, Flexible Kerbing, Raised Tables, Parking Posts and Tactile Surface Tiles for the guidance of the visually impaired. |

At the Royal Mail Delivery Office Hythe, Hampshire, the Vehicle Stopper prevents cars from encroaching onto a narrow pedestrian footpath which forms the only pedestrian access to the site. This is achieved with a continuous run of 27m which was easily installed with minimum disruption to business.
These new products, together with the existing range are comprehensively featured in a new brochure produced by Rediweld. These products include
This is the second
It is not surprising therefore to find that these cones are being specified for heavy weight, high volume, traffic situations such as access restriction and contra flows on trunk roads and preventing parking on slip roads. They have also been specified for complete lane demarcation at the entrance of Heathrow Airport and for parking restriction at Manchester City Stadium.
The new Rediweld ‘
SitecopPlus is a slightly wider speed restrictor from the front ramp to the rear. This effectively makes traversing the unit less severe providing a more ‘gentle’ approach to managing the traffic situation.
The Jislon range is designed specifically for safety critical situations. They are tested to a level comparable with being driven over 1000 times by a 2 tonne vehicle travelling at 70 km/hr. Being deformable the pole cone will collapse to road surface level and then return to its upright position.
