Peter Gill Appointed Quality Manager of Rediweld Rubber &

Peter Gill has been appointed Quality Manager of Rediweld Rubber & Plastics Ltd. Peter brings to Rediweld a wealth of QA experience from working with both customer and

suppliers.  Peter has had previous positions in a variety of industries such as PPE safety equipment, data retrieval systems, retail signage and automotive engineering. The aerospace sector is now Rediweld’s main market for plastic and rubber moulding services. One of Peter’s priorities will be to develop our quality systems to achieve AS9100 approval.

Peter joins Rediweld as it completes an expansion of its thermoset compression moulding and downstream activities such as machining and assembly.

Rediweld Moulding and The Blatchford Navigator Foot (Oct 06)

 

Rediweld, a specialist moulding company in both rubber and plastic, has been working closely with Blatchford Products of Basingstoke for many years providing more than 80 line items, many of which are assemblies.

The new Blatchford ‘Navigator Foot’, which is a prosthetic foot for amputees, demands very specialist manufacture of all the component parts to ensure smooth simulation of normal foot movement.  Key to this is the ‘Multiflex’ ankle joint for which Rediweld produced prototype tooling for two key items, the ball joint and the snubber ring, and through tooling modifications refined the parts to meet the client’s  requirements.

high technology plastic moulding for the Blatchford navigator artificial footThe ball joint is rubber to metal bonded to anodised aluminium stems, which are machined by Blatchfords and free issued to Rediweld.  After much product testing Rediweld moved to multi-cavity production tooling and achieved a tight leadtime for the product launch.

Both of the component parts supplied by Rediweld are made in three different hardness of rubber which are now supplied weekly to Blatchford against a free stock report issued to Rediweld.

Rediweld are particularly proud of the part they have played in the development of the highly sophisticated and very successful product and view it as the type of mutually beneficial relationship they strive to achieve with all their clients.

A strong development programme over the last few years, which involved Rediweld in the acquisition of additional equipment and investment in both manpower and systems, has positioned Rediweld as a key service provider to several specific sectors including:- Aerospace and Defence, Medical, Process Engineering and Consumer Electronics.

Rediweld recently received a Gold Supplier Award in recognition of performance our plastic moulding and rubber moulding brochuresimprovements achieved as part of a Smiths Aerospace supply chain group. Rediweld is now keen to establish itself in other sectors, providing the same level of service.

A new brochure from Rediweld sets out their production specialisations including their ability to supply low volumes, and offer a ’concept to component’ service with design, tooling, moulding, machining and assembly as all part of the normal customer requirement for both plastic and rubber products.

Rediweld have very experienced technical advisors who are only too willing to visit prospective clients to discuss moulding requirements, including materials selections, cost efficiencies and project viability.
